Okay, I have always had a love for Paris. I studied French for 5 years, and I even had the pleasure to go to Paris in 2008. So, imagine my excitement when I got the opportunity to create a Parisian Themed Birthday Cake. I was like a kid in a candy store!
I love having the autonomy to create something special for my clients. I was approached by Jayne Heir Weddings to create a special birthday cake for Baltimore Raven's Cornerback Kyle Arrington's wife 30th birthday. This was a surprise party.
The party was held at 'The Sunset Room by Wolfgang Puck' at the National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. The idea behind the cake was 'A Night in Paris'. Kyle stated that his wife loves Chanel, Christian Louboutin Shoes, Fashion, and the color Purple. Since our cake designs are inspired by Fashion, this cake was a no-brainer!
For the cake design, I wanted to do something special. Therefore, I created a sculpted corset cake tier. This would add femininity, height, and drama to the cake. Yes, this tier was all cake. The corset cake flavor was Black Tie. It was adorned with edible sugar lace, fondant panels/trim, and baroque details.
Due to our love for sugarflowers, he had to add a touch to adorn the cake. All of the sugarflowers were handmade. We created Purple Roses with Leaves, Purple Vanda Orchids, and Light Purple Hydrangeas.
To fulfill her love for shoes, I created a sugar Christian Louboutin Bootie with sugar fishnet details and spikes on the toe. Sugar elements (i.e. the sugar bootie and sugar flowers) will actually last forever if kept out of direct sunlight and water.
Lastly, I created a signature Chanel Gift box cake with sugar 'Chanel' bow and diamond encrusted Eiffel Tower. The Giftbox cake flavor was Southern Red Velvet Cake.
